Intentional communication lies at the heart of every thriving relationship
Hi Reader,
Let’s be honest. Even the strongest relationships hit walls. We misread a tone. We shut down. We speak... but don’t feel heard.
In a world that's louder than ever, meaningful connections are quietly slipping away. But it doesn't have to be that way. Great relationships aren’t built on luck. They’re built through ongoing effort and care. And communication? That’s the core skill that changes everything. It’s how we bridge distance, ease tension, and feel connected again. Whether you're thriving or just getting by together, there’s always room to go deeper.
Take the couple caught mid-affair at a recent Coldplay concert. It wasn’t just a tabloid moment—it was a reminder. What lies beneath betrayal is often unmet needs, silenced truths, and disconnection left unspoken for too long. No wonder it went viral. The story felt familiar. And "familiar" shares roots with "family." We saw ourselves in it.
The quality of our relationships plays a major role in the quality of our lives. Personal growth is essential for a relationship to thrive, but relationships also have their own cycles. They need attention and care too. I’m sharing a few things here that might help.
I hope you enjoy the read! Gal

7 Insights On The Art & Science of Intentional Communication
Communication is the interface we rely on in every human interaction and relationship. It’s so fundamental, yet we often overlook it. The way we listen, speak, and hold space for one another can make the difference between escalating conflict and building deeper connection.
The insights in this article apply to all kinds of relationships, both personal and professional. I invite you to explore seven key lessons I’ve gathered over the years on how to communicate with more intention.
Martin Buber was a Jewish philosopher best known for his philosophy of dialogue, especially his concept of the “I–Thou” relationship. Much of my thinking about relationships is influenced by his thinking and teaching.
"The world is not to be understood as a collection of objects, but as a web of relationships. When we relate to another human being, we must not objectify them or view them as something to be used for our own purposes. True, fulfilling relationships are those in which we meet the other not as an object to be manipulated, but as a person with whom we can encounter the divine. In the "I-Thou" relationship, there is no distance between the self and the other; both are united in mutual respect and understanding. This kind of relationship, based on dialogue and mutual recognition, is the foundation of all meaningful human connection. It is in these moments of true reciprocity that we find the deepest fulfillment, for they allow us to transcend the boundaries of the self and experience the world as interconnected. In modern life, however, relationships have often been reduced to mere transactions or means to an end, stripping them of their transformative power. The challenge, then, is to recover the ability to truly meet the other in an authentic and profound way, and in doing so, to find the deepest sense of connection and meaning."
― Martin Buber, I and Thou
A question to ask ourselves: Do I see others as people to connect with, or as roles and functions in my life?(Am I relating to their humanity, or just reacting to their utility?)In my relationships, am I seeking connection or control? (Do I engage to understand, or to influence and manage outcomes?) When was the last time I allowed a conversation to change me, not just confirm me?
