Something To Explore

The 3 Hidden Meanings of Crisis

Consider this: how does the language we use shape our understanding of crises? Could the terms we choose actually influence how we experience and navigate challenges? I invite you to join me in a deeper exploration of these questions in my latest Medium article, where I delve into how linguistic frameworks and cultural misconceptions shape our psychological responses to crises.

I uncover how different cultures perceive crises and how their unique linguistic structures reflect and influence these views. Does our perception confine us, or does it empower us? Do our linguistic habits confine us to negative interpretations, or can they empower us to relate differently to crises and adversities?

‘’Discovering these meanings made a huge difference in the way I approach life, from the obvious negative connotations of difficulty, danger, and critical decision to a neutral one where crisis is a moment of personal responsibility and an opportunity for growth. The crisis is a moment of chaos that leaves us with a choice.‘’

Something To Reflect On

A quote by Leonard Cohen

‘The “light” is the capacity to reconcile your experience, your sorrow, with every day that dawns. It is that understanding, which is beyond significance, that allows you to live a life and embrace the disasters and sorrows and joys that are our common lot. The thing is imperfect. And worse, there is a crack in everything that you can put together, physical objects, mental objects, constructions of any kind. But that's where the light gets in, and that's where the resurrection is and that's where the return, that's where the repentance is. It is with the confrontation with the brokenness of things."
Leonard Cohen

‘There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in’ is surely the most frequently quoted sayings from Leonard Cohen. In a Nov 19, 1992 interview, Barbara Gowdy asked the Canadian singer-songwriter, "What is the light?" Leonard Cohen's answer above is thoughtful, illuminating, & fortifying.

Questions to ask ourselves: Are you blocking the light from getting into your life by holding on to ‘perfect’? When was the last time a crack showed up and what became possible as a result? How have the words you’ve chosen influenced your experiences of crisis?

Something To Experience

'Latent Spaces' Art Exhibition By Markos Kay

This exhibition was recommended to me by my dear friend Maya, a talented painter. It explores the narrative between the relationship of artificial intelligence with humanity’s collective unconscious and is part of 'Latent Spaces,' a blurring of the lines between reality and simulation. Experiencing it felt like stepping into a meditative realm where optical illusions and innovative art converge to challenge my perceptions of reality.

Markos Kay’s breathtaking visuals are a collage of refined artworks designed through two decades of experimenting with generative art, presented to the public for the first time in an immersive format. This is an experience for adults and kids alike.

For more details on the exhibition and to secure your visit click below.

You can visit the exhibition until the end of April.
