Issue #5

Hi Reader,

More than ever, we need a more conscious leadership committed to elevating our communities. This kind of leadership is based on building self-awareness. This philosophy drives everything we do at iDiscover 360.

By encouraging leaders to embark on a journey of personal discovery, we cultivate an environment where we can fully thrive. In fostering such leadership, we pave the way for cultures enriched by genuine connection and sustained innovation.

Explore these concepts further in my latest Medium article, where I discuss the differences between motivation and inspiration, and offer insights on how to lead your teams more consciously and effectively. I also share below what we can learn from painter Claude Monet and choreographer Hofesh Schecter about inspiration. I hope you enjoy the read.

Motivation vs. Inspiration: Navigating the Pathways of Influence

Do you ever wonder what drives you - motivation or inspiration? Is it possible that understanding these forces could transform the way you approach both life and leadership?

“Motivation is seen as a push factor, driving people through external incentives, whereas inspiration pulls people into action with internal drives or values."

This thought-provoking distinction sets the stage for a deeper exploration of how these dynamics shape our actions and fuel our aspirations. Click here to read the full article.

Something To Reflect On

A quote by Claude Monet

"Every day I discover more and more beautiful things. It’s enough to drive one mad. I have such a desire to do everything, my head is bursting with it."
Claude Monet

Questions to ask ourselves: How much of what we see is interpretation and how much is objective? How can we bring more intention for discovering more beauty in the world around us? How can we channel our inspirations into full self-expression in our daily lives and work?

This quote from the founder of impressionism captures a profound sense of wonder and insatiable curiosity that Monet felt towards the world around him. It reflects the overwhelming excitement and the ceaseless passion that can come from truly engaging in your surroundings and pursuits. It encourages us to pursue our passions with fervour yet reminds us of the importance of focusing our energies where they might yield the most personal fulfilment and impact.

Something To Experience

Hofesh Shechter's "From England With Love"

Contemporary dance is one of my favourite art forms, and Hofesh Shechter is a leading talent in this field. 12 years ago, just a few years after Hofesh started his choreography dance company and launched his masterpiece Political Mother, I had the opportunity to interview him on his creative work process and inspirations.

Hofesh Shechter's latest performance, "From England With Love," recently showcased at the Southbank Centre in London, continues to cement his reputation as a pioneering choreographer. In this piece, Hofesh is trying to capture the English people and culture psyche, or at least his interpretation. This compelling piece blends visceral dance with an evocative score, engaging audiences in a powerful exploration of conflict, passion, and unity.

The performance is marked by Shechter's trademark intensity. The dancers' raw energy, combined with striking audiovisuals, creates a captivating, almost apocalyptic atmosphere. The choreography, aggressive yet poetic, is perfectly synced with haunting music, enhancing the thematic depth of human emotions and societal commentary. "From England With Love" offers both long-time followers and newcomers a profound experience of Shechter’s evolving artistic dialogue. It’s a must-see for anyone interested in the cutting edge of contemporary dance.
