On Meaning, Purpose & Fulfilment

iDiscover

Issue #19

Hi Reader,

Carl Jung advocated for more conscious living, and Viktor Frankl for a life of meaning. They echoed what sages from different cultures have pointed out for centuries and even millennia. But how? What is the practice, especially for someone swept up in the overwhelming stream of modern life?

My observation has led me to conclude that intellectual understanding is essential, but not enough to generate sustainable mental growth. We learn best through immersive experience and direct confrontation.

With this in mind, I designed the Career Compass programme. It is a 2-day, in-person journey that combines theory with practice and serves as a powerful tool for defining your purpose and enhancing professional fulfilment.

I invite you to join me and fine-tune your inner compass so you can navigate your life with greater clarity and meaning.

I hope you enjoy the read!

Something To Reflect On

A Short Read from Carl Jung

"We live in a world that is constantly pressing us to accept beliefs, systems, and ideas that are not truly our own. Most people do not question the paradigms into which they are born, and therefore their lives remain in the grip of external influences rather than emerging from their own authentic selves. But true mental resilience arises not from merely accepting these external structures, but from daring to question them, from facing the unconscious and finding the courage to integrate the hidden aspects of ourselves. Only when we learn to confront the shadow of our own psyche and ask the difficult questions—who am I truly, what do I need, what can I become—do we achieve real psychological maturity. This is not a quick process, and it often comes with immense suffering, but it is through this questioning, through this dialogue with the unconscious, that we find fulfillment and a deeper meaning in life. Our task is to question everything, including our assumptions, and to embrace what we find in the process of self-discovery." (Jung, Memories, Dreams, Reflections)
― Carl Jung

A question to ask ourselves: What effort can I make to live life consciously? Who am I truly? What do I really need? What can I become? What paradigm did I buy into, take for granted and never question?

Something To Experience

SXSW London

SXSW (South by Southwest) is in London this week for the first time. I first experienced it during a visit to Austin back in 1996. What began as a spontaneous country music showcase in Austin, Texas, in 1987 has since evolved into one of the world’s leading festival-conference events.

Over the past decade, SXSW has been a major influence in shaping the trend of conferences becoming more festive and festivals adopting more conference-like elements.

SXSW is structured around three major events happening in parallel: Film, Media & Screenings, Tech, Innovation & Talks, and Music & Live Performances. Each has its own programming, yet all take place simultaneously.

The event is known for its trailblazing talks, legendary live performances featuring both established and emerging talent, fearless film screenings, and immersive experiences in art and fashion. And now, it’s all happening in one London district: Shoreditch.

If you're curious about emerging talents and trends in media, tech, and the arts, SXSW is well worth adding to your bucket list.

I hope you enjoyed the read.
